            Ling Yao had promised to accept all the rival families when he left Amestris with the Chang girl in tow. Back in Xing, he was reminded what a rash, impossible promise that was.

            Accepting and protecting the families meant keeping them off each other’s throats. And, his own. When it would be so much easier and safer to keep them divided and feuding with each other so they could never join against him.

            But, he had promised, and Ling Yao kept his promises.

            As he’d said, if he could handle all the souls within Greed, he could handle a few families. More, he wanted to handle them. Wanted them all to be his so fiercely he wondered sometimes just how much Greed had influenced him.

            But, he also knew what Greed had been willing to do for what he considered his. And, maybe that kind of greed wasn't so bad.
