Age: Varies in appearance. In most of my fanfics, including The Fate of a Mutant Swat Kat, he’s 19-25 but he’ll be at varying ages in different fanfics.
Description: Tyler is the younger brother of T-Bone AKA Chance Furlong. He’s known for his brainy personality like Razor and his burliness like T-Bone. Tyler has a slight resemblance of his young nephew, Max (T-Bone’s son). He has orange-yellow fur with dark brown tabby starting on his face and runs down his arms, legs and tail. Tyler also has a mop of long, dark red-brown hair usually tied into a ponytail. His life changes after he becomes a mutant seven years after the birth of his twin sons, Dante and Felix. Tyler was bitten by one of Dr. Viper’s mutants while trying to find a safe place to hide. Viper Mutagen 368 and Katalyst X63 evolved in him until his body started actually producing the mutagens. Like Max, Tyler has webbed hands, frog-like feet with long talons and a lizard-like tail. He can also grow wings from a gelatin-like ooze, which Tyler secretes on his back. When he’s prepared to attack, Tyler claws extend five inches, which can cut through anything. He marries Lt. Felina Feral and has twin sons. A year after Tyler mutates, Felina couldn’t get over the tragedy of her husband, so she divorces him and marries his best friend Jake AKA Razor. Tyler marries his long-lost girlfriend and guardian angel (really!), Amanda Harrison AKA Serra.
Personality: As Tyler, he’s a fun loving, brainy kind-of-guy. As his alter ego Slash, he’s a master of technology, hand-to-hand combat and piloting the Turbokat like T-Bone. Whatever you do, do not make this kat mad or he’ll whack you with his tail! After turning into a mutant, he wanted revenge on Dr. Viper for what he did to him and his family. Over the years, he learns to cope with his new form.
Abilities: Like Max, the Viper mutagen can heal his wounds, no matter how serious they are. He can also regenerate lost limbs and body parts (i.e., his tail). When Tyler is in salt or fresh water, he grows gills and can swim fast as a fish. Like Max, salt water burns his gills painfully but Viper Mutagen 368 can heal them. He can reach and grab objects with his tail. The Katalyst X63 has given him enhanced strength, speed, agility, and senses. He can fly in the air with his wings. The mutagens mostly affect his age. No matter how old Tyler gets, he’ll still look a young tom-kat. Unlike Max, Tyler can change into his normal state at will. In the future, Amanda gives Tyler pyrokinesis (the ability to summon fire with his mind).
Weaknesses: Tyler is practically unstoppable, ‘cause Viper mutagen 368 enables him to heal and regenerate wounds in a short matter of time. Only a few things can kill Tyler. Fire slows down his healing process when Tyler is burned.
Anti-mutagens neutralize his abilities (except his pyrokinesis) or can even kill him if he’s exposed to large quantities. A shot/stab in the heart, decapitation, or an instant killing blow to the head can kill Tyler.
