Well, since you liked time travel I just had to write the second part. This one isn't as in depth as the first part, however it is meant to be the action sequence. Expect a lot of things that are huge and can crush stuff. I hope they you enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TIME TRAVEL PART 2 The Turbokat's engines roared as T-bone twisted between two skyscrapers, trying to lose the fighters that had been on their tail for the last five minutes. "Aren't you gonna shoot them?" T-Bone asked as he flew under a bridge, skimming the surface of the river. The fighters followed with ease. "Give me a sec - the temporal detector is going haywire," Razor said as he tried to deactivate the device. It had been beeping for what seemed forever and was interfering with Razor's targeting systems. "Well, hang on then if you can't do anything!" T-Bone shouted in urgency as he pulled the Turbokat into a steep climb. The fighters followed as he continued to accelerate and kept flying higher. "You can't make them stall, they're spaceships!" Razor shouted as the G-forces pushed him back in his seat. "I'm not gonna make them stall, so hang on to your lunch!" T-bone said as he took them out of their ascent and sent them into a steep dive. The fighters were slow to respond as the sleek black jet zoomed past them. The jetwash from the Turbokat then caught up with them, sending the fighters colliding into one another, igniting the night sky. "Ha," T-Bone said as he pulled up and brought them back into control. "Nice flying, eh Razor?" he said looking back, only to find Razor unconscious. Aw crud, T-Bone thought. Razor got knocked out again by the g-forces, and I need a weapons officer right about now. Drawing his attention back to the front, he could see another wave of fighters speeding toward him. "This is gonna be a longer night then I thought," he said out loud as he once again began the familiar game of kat and mouse. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "I can't believe it," Professor Hackle exclaimed as he sat down on a stool inside his lab. He had just listened to the trenchcoat clad figure, who called himself McGrath tell about a horrifying future that was to come, all because of him. "Believe it, you did twenty-two years ago," McGrath responded. "What do you mean twenty-two years ago?" Hackle asked. His entire day had gone wrong so far, and now he had the fate of the world resting on his shoulders. "After I erased your memory, Unitor made an unscheduled appearance at Pumadyne. He managed to kill most of my team, leaving only me," McGrath said. He showed a sign of sadness at the mention of his team. "I was forced to detonate the temporal explosive prematurely, taking out most of the complex with it." "You mean to tell me that that terrorist attack was actually you!" Hackle shouted as he stood up. "I had many friends that were killed in that explosion." "Yes, and I'm regretful for that, but I had no choice. Unitor had already injured me and was about to take the IDTD," McGrath said, looking away. Hackle sat back down, the anger subsiding. He spoke up again as a new thought came to his mind. "You say that you destroyed the facility and Unitor, but then how could you survive?" McGrath turned to face the Professor again, with a saddened look in his eye. "I didn't. The person that you met twenty-two years ago was me, but a me from the future. You see, thanks to your technology, we have incorporated the paradox prevention bands," McGrath said as he rolled up his trenchcoat sleeve to reveal an armband with the familiar time travel technology on it. "I died, one week from now in my perspective. I must now keep this armband on or else, as you once pointed out, I'll merge into the present time frame, in which I am deceased." "I see," Hackle said, pondering the idea. "Now, I must tell you of a more present problem. As you can see, Megakat City is experiencing a form of time displacement due to the IDTD. Someone has found it and is trying to use it, but without success. We found that that void dimension from which you merge a person isn't so void after all. It contains a massive energy center, which if not contained correctly could lead to an overload of the device, causing intense temporal displacement that could cause the end of the world," McGrath said matter of factly as he rolled his sleeve back down. "Oh my, what can we do to stop it?" Hackle asked worriedly. McGrath smiled as he began to explain his plan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Crud! Hang on!" T-Bone shouted as he put the Turbokat into a nose dive, soaring under Old Megakat Bridge. A pair of acid spitting plantimals followed in his wake. "I cant believe this!" Razor exclaimed as he flipped down his targeting visor. He selected a Spider Chain Missile and fired with precision. The three-armed bolo found its mark, wrapping around the pursuing plantimals and electrocuting them. "This is getting way out of hand. First Mutilor shows up then we get giant Ci-Kat-A's popping out of thin air and now we got Viper's plantimals," T-bone said as he swung around a skyscraper. Two more plantimals tried to follow, but were unable to maneuver as quickly. They splattered against the side of a building with a sickening splat. "Watch it, buddy - we got another temporal disturbance coming it hot," Razor said as the device Hackle gave them started beeping erratically. A bright flash of light followed, and, as it cleared, a giant robotic monstrosity the size of a skyscraper appeared out of thin air. "TURBOKAT DETECTED. ZED MUST ASSIMILATE FOR PRESERVATION," a familiar monotone voice said. "Double crud!" T-Bone hollered as he swung the jet upward to avoid the incoming cable arms of Zed. The sound of metal on metal screeching could be heard as the cables scraped away at the fuselage, just barely missing the Turbokat. "Now what do we do?" T-Bone asked as he continued to duck and dodge everything that was coming at them. Before Razor could respond, the temporal detector started beeping again, and a flash of light occurred once again and Dark Kat's Black Widow materialized before them. "Well, I can tell you one thing - we aren't going to stop all these guys by ourselves," Razor said as he once again took aim through his targeting visor. "Roger that," T-Bone remarked as he once again prepared to defend the city against yet another mysterious threat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "This is Feral - bring me chopper back up!" Commander Feral said, uttering the phrase that he felt he had to use too often. Nearby, a large fireball was thrown at him, just barely missing. To his surprise, he found the all too familiar fire demon Volcanus stomping through the city. "This is Feral - I need some jets scrambled right away. We've got even bigger problems to..." Feral began as his chopper was rocked by an incoming blast of laser fire. "What the... Kats Alive!" Feral exclaimed as a dozen of the Pastmaster's mummies materialized and began their own way of trashing the city. Another bright flash of light followed, and a Megasaurus Rex emerged, tromping down main street. Another flash of light and the magical court jester Madkat came into being. He pulled a giant buzzsaw yo-yo from behind his back and started levelling buildings left and right. "I need those fighters now!" Feral bellowed into the mike as another flash of light filled his vision and a giant airship started flying overhead, launching squadrons of enemy fighters and firing a vertigo beam in all directions. This just isn't my day, Feral thought as he brought his own chopper into the mix of giant monsters and villains destroying his own city before his eyes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Another explosion rocked City Hall as Mayor Manx hid under his desk, clutching his golf clubs and quivering in fear. The door to his office exploded open as Lieutenant Felina Feral and Deputy Mayor Callie Briggs came in. "Mayor Manx," Felina said as she approached the Mayor. "I've been ordered to evacuate you and the Deputy Mayor to Enforcer Headquarters." The building rocked again as a group of mummies began to make their way towards the building. The Enforcers had managed to set up a temporary blockade around the building, but it was quickly coming apart as monsters from the past continued to trash the city. "Mayor, we have to get out now!" Callie said urgently as she pulled Manx out from under his desk, still clutching his clubs. The trio made their way quickly down the hall and onto the roof where a chopper sat waiting. They quickly entered, and Felina began the pre-flight sequence. "Looks like we made it," Felina said, relieved, as the craft rose into the air. It jerked forward abruptly as a large cloth-wrapped hand grabbed the tail. "One of the Pastmaster's mummies has us," Felina said as she struggled with the controls. "I'm sorry, Mayor," Callie said not too sincerely as she grabbed one of his clubs and hurled it at the mummy's face. The throw was good and hit its designated mark, shattering the mummy's eye shield. It quickly broke and the giant dissolved into a pile of red, rotting flesh. "Good job, Callie," Felina said gratefully as the chopper once again rose into the air. Callie made her way up and sat down in the adjoining seat. "Now, what do we do? We literally have every single thing that has ever tried to destroy this city just suddenly come out of nowhere," Callie asked, wanting to have an answer she knew she probably wouldn't get. "I don't know, but things are about to get a little better," Felina said, pointing to an Enforcer jet squadron that flew past them, heading downtown to engage the multiple threats. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Another explosion ripped through the now morning sky as the Turbokat continued to engage the multiple threats. T-Bone was starting to feel slightly better as he and Razor had managed to take out Turmoil's airship and her Omega Squadron. "Surprising what a few match head missiles will do," Razor said as T-Bone swung around to go after the Megasaurus Rex crashing through the city. "Yeah, but I think that it'll take a little more than that to stop that thing," T-Bone replied, gesturing to the giant monstrosity. "Roger that," Razor agreed as he searched through his inventory. He frowned as realization hit him. "We are running low on ammo, buddy - only two missiles left." "Only two? What are they?" T-Bone asked as he swung the Turbokat behind a building as the Megasaurus Rex swung its tail at them. The tail missed and demolished an overhead freeway pass instead. "A Megavolt missile and that new one I've been working on," Razor said, not too happily. "Well, now is as good a time as any to test it out," his partner replied, switching to VTOL mode, keeping the jet lined up with its target. "All right, missile X, Deploy!" Razor announced as he flipped the safety off his joystick and pressed the button. The bomb bay of the Turbokat opened as a sleek black missile, about twice as long as one of the Turbokat's normal missiles, streaked forward toward the Megasaurus. The front of the missile split apart into two pieces tethered by a cable. The two pieces wrapped around the Megasaurus like a bolo missile would. The two ends of the missile lit on fire like a matchhead and exploded, knocking the dinosaur on its back. "Bingo!" Razor exclaimed as his prototype missile did the trick. "Wow, what was that thing?!" T-Bone asked as he swung the Turbokat around to inspect their work. The dinosaur was out like a light. "Just a little combination of a matchhead and bolo missile - just two times as powerful," Razor said with a grin. Another building exploded as a Giant Bacteria consumed a propane station. "Good thing you still got that Megavolt missile," T-Bone said as he brought the Turbokat, still in VTOL mode, over the unsuspecting purple glob of oversized bacteria. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning filled the morning sky as it darkened with storm clouds, seemingly out of nowhere. What an unexpected benefit, Dark Kat thought as he stood atop City Hall. He was also especially pleased that no one had even noticed him standing like a vulture and waiting for what would happen next. In the palm of his hand he held the metal sphere that he had taken from Viper. It glowed vibrantly as the lights blinked on and off. Red digital numbers continued to whir in what appeared random order as the device chirped yet again. The chirp was then followed by another flash of light as Rex Shard, in his giant crystallic form, popped into existence just under a mile away. "It appears that this device has more potential use than I first thought," Dark Kat said to his Creeplings as he continued to experiment with the sphere. His attention was wavered however as an Enforcer chopper rose into the air right in front of him "Hold it right there, Dark Kat," the familiar voice of Commander Feral boomed on a megaphone. "You're under arrest - keep your hands where I can see them." "Ah, Commander Feral. How nice of you to pay me a visit," Dark Kat said in his usual casual manner. "However, I hardly think that I am your biggest problem at the moment," he replied, gesturing to Rex Shard just as he launched a group of his crystal projectiles into the air at Feral. He didn't have time to respond as his chopper was hit and crash-landed on the roof of a nearby building. Dark Kat laughed in his maniacal way, only to be interrupted by the beeping of the apparatus he held in his giant, purple hand. The numbers on that had been whirring erratically had finally stopped. He grew curious as it read 01/01/1900. It began to shake in his claws and started spurting electrical sparks in all directions, forcing him to drop it. It then started to roll off the roof. "Get that, my Creeplings!" he said urgently as one of his pink flying creatures attempted to grab the sphere. As soon as it came into contact with it, it screeched and vanished into nothingness. "No!" Dark Kat yelled at the top of his voice as yet another Creepling tried to grab it with similar results. The device now teetered, partially hanging over the side. All of a sudden, the lights on it went blank and the next Creepling in line successfully grabbed the device and handed it to Dark Kat. "There is obviously more to this thing than meets the eye," Dark Kat said as he pondered what he would do with the device next. His eyes lit up like a light bulb had appeared over his head, and he once again began his string of evil laughter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Crud! He's got us!" T-Bone shouted. They had just finished barbequing the Giant Bacteria, but were now stuck with Rex Shard as he had grabbed on to the Turbokat, causing it to gradually turn to crystal. "We've got to eject!" Razor replied as he opened the canopy and flipped the safety off the side of his seat. "We are not ejecting!" T-Bone said with his usual stubbornness related to ditching the Turbokat. The monitor on his consol went dead as the circuitry turned to crystal. It now crept up the side of the fuselage and onto the floor panelings. "All right," T-Bone said with reluctance as he pressed the button on his chair, sending him and Razor rocketing out of the cockpit, away from Shard. "Oh no!" Razor cried as Shard, taking the now solid crystal jet, threw it against the side of the building where it shattered into a million pieces. "I'm sorry, buddy," T-Bone said sympathetically as he steered the Ejektor to a safer distance. He felt what Razor was feeling; the loss of the Turbokat was never easy. They had both grown very fond of the speed machine that they had both built together, and, no matter how many times it was destroyed, it always saddened the two. As he finished the thought, a massive burst of light, greater than all those that had preceded it, blinded them. As their vision slowly returned, they noticed something very different. All the monsters were gone. The only thing that was left was a trail of destruction. "What happened?" T-Bone asked in amazement, still hovering in the sky. "The temporal disturbance must've ended," Razor stated, amazed and grateful for what had just happened. "But, it didn't bring the Turbokat back, look." On the street far below the remains of the Turbokat could be seen, no longer embedded in crystal. "At least we can salvage her," T-Bone said encouragingly. "Just another project to work on, right buddy?" "Yeah, a very long project," Razor responded, a little happier. They continued to drift in the sky, anticipating the long job ahead of them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, at least the monsters are gone now, Mayor Manx thought to himself. He was standing in Enforcer Headquarters and had just received word that the destruction had ended. But, not without extensive damages, billions at least, he thought. Now, my precious city will go bankrupt and I'll be out of a job. "Mayor, I know that you probably already know this, but we are in serious trouble," Callie Briggs said as she spoke frankly with the Mayor. "We'll never be able to fund repairs this massive." "I know," Manx said as he began weeping aloud. "It's aaallll come crumbling down and there was nothing that I could do." Callie was about to say something more when the press abruptly entered the room. Ann Gora was the first to get through the crowd and immediately started asking questions. "Mr. Mayor, Megakat City has experienced its worst catastrophic event yet. Power and utilities are out, transit systems have been decimated, uncontrolled riots have begun. What do you intend to do?" Before Manx could respond, Callie stepped in. "There's only one thing that we can do," the Deputy Mayor said with a hint of sadness in her voice. "We have to declare MKC a disaster area." The crowd of media was silenced by this statement. Surely the great metropolis of Megakat City couldn't be shut down. It had survived many attacks on itself and yet still managed to keep on going. Now, as ultimate downfall stared everyone in the face, no one knew what to say. Seven days later... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Swat Kats rode on their custom two-seater cyclotron, heading out toward the beach where Professor Hackle lived. A week had passed and already T-Bone and Razor had constructed a frame for the new Turbokat. It would still be three months at a minimum before they had a working model though. "Wonder what the Professor wants," T-Bone said, making the usual small talk that he shared with his partner. "I don't know, but it probably has something to do with everything that's happened over the last week," Razor responded. Another thought entered his mind. "I still can't believe that the city's been closed down though." "Yeah, I know it," T-Bone sighed. In all their years an Enforcers and Swat Kats they'd never had the city shut down before. Even if the bad guys had vanished, it was still monsters 1, Swat Kats 0. He slowed the cyclotron to a halt as they reached the Professor's high tech residence. The wind blew lightly with the brisk salt water scent of the ocean reaching their nostrils. "Welcome, Swat Kats," Hackle greeted the two masked hotshots. He was accompanied by another kat, clad in a trench coat. The other kat raised his hand to shake. "Hello, I'm Jason McGrath," the figure said with a serious air about him. "You may not realize it at the moment, but, as of right now, most of your problems can be solved right now." Both Razor and T-Bone looked at one another, then at McGrath. "What do you mean?" they said in unison. McGrath smiled and then told his story. To be continued...
