Summary: The SWAT Kats find out what affect their weapon has on the population of Megakat City, and, of course, the bad guys.

Chapter One:

The two toms had just enough time to release their parachutes before they passed out. The two hit the ground hard, but didn’t feel it. They were too unconscious to feel anything at the moment of impact.

Slowly, they began to come round.

Bleary eyed, the two gazed around, a little confused for a moment.

The pair looked up and down the street. All around them, kats lay on the ground.

“This isn’t happening! This isn’t happening!”

“Razor? Are you ok?”

“No, T-Bone. Look! That was me! I did this!”

T-Bone stood up and looked around. He walked over to a kat who lay a little way from him. He lifted up the kat's wrist and took his pulse. This surprised him. There was a pulse. He wasn’t dead.

Razor was now sitting back on the ground, crying. His knees were drawn up to his chest, his head was in his hands. He just sat there. And cried.

T-Bone tried another kat, and another, and a she-kat, and a kat, and a she kat again. Every one of them was breathing.

“Razor,” said T-Bone in almost a whisper, “I don’t think you know what’s happened…”

Razor looked up. “Yes, yes I do! Look, I killed these people. Just look around you! All these kats…”

“Razor, think about it. If these kats are dead, why aren’t we?”

“Well, I guess we were too high up…”

“Wrong! Think about it, what just happened?”

“We ejected and fell to the ground…”

“…and passed out,” finished T-Bone. “So, these kats would most probably have suffered the same as us. They would have just passed out, and then…”

“…later on, they’ll come around again!”

“Yes! C’mon! I’ll prove it to you!”

T-Bone dragged Razor to his feet just as he was wiping his eyes dry and hauled him over to the nearest kat. He then put two of Razor's fingers on the kat's wrist.

Razor smiled. He felt the pulse and moved onto the next kat. He felt the pulse again.

T-Bone grinned.

“Ooooh, ooh my head…”

“Yeah, ow…”

The whole street was coming round. Every kat was regaining consciousness, at the same time.

“Aww, what happened?”

“Yeh – how did I get here?”

“Man! I’m late for work!”

“It’s, like, mid afternoon…”

“Mom? Where am I…”

None of the kats could remember what had happened, or where they were. They could remember who they were, so the memory loss wasn’t that bad, but their memories seemed to cease a few days ago.

“Last thing I remember, I was at my aunts'…”

“I was going to school…”

“Razor,” whispered T-Bone, “What happened? I know they can’t remember anything, but why can we?”

“We must have been so high up, the effect was felt much less. That’s why we came around earlier.”

“But, I remember everything.”

“So do I, I think.” Razor scratched his head “When was the last time we cleaned the bathroom?”

“Err, I don’t know…” came T-Bone's confused reply. “But, I do remember something about cleaning…”

Further away, a rather dazed trio of she kats lay around Callie Briggs’ car.

“Yow, what was that?”

“And, why are we lying outside Callie’s car?”

“My car! Oh no, my car!”

Callie’s car was smouldering next to the curb. In fact, so was every vehicle in the street. Enforcer tanks smoked, but surprisingly, still had kats inside them; live kats. Razor walked over to one, scaled the side, and looked in.

“Hello?”

“What happened? Where am I?”

“Calm down,” Razor replied. “Just relax a little. Let me help you out, and then you’ll be fine.”

Razor pulled the enforcer out and looked him up and down. He seemed fine.

“How do you feel?” Razor asked.

“I feel, shaky…”

‘No worse than the others,’ Razor thought. ‘Wait, does that mean the Dark SWAT Kats and Co. weren’t affected either?’

His train of thought was interrupted by a loud announcement from Commander Feral.

“Please kats, remain calm. We are beginning a clean up operation. If you are hurt, disorientated, or suffering from memory loss, please report to one of the first aid stands. Thank you.”

“Well, at least he’s trying. I better go see if the girls are ok,” T-Bone murmured as he strode in the general direction of Callie’s car.

Razor had already reached Callie’s car when T-Bone arrived, and he found Razor being smothered by an excitable Luck.

“I’ve always wanted to kiss a SWAT Kat…”

“Aghhhhhghghhgrrrrrr! T-bone, little help!?” screamed Razor, as he began to squirm in her grasp. ‘I can’t believe I used to fancy her,’ he thought.

“Ok, down girl…” T-bone growled, putting his paws under her arms and lifting her up. Unfortunately, she was still attached to Razor, and he lifted them both up. So, he grabbed the back of Razor's flight suit and shook him until the crazed she-kat let go and fell off.

She simply giggled.

Then T-Bone soon found himself being hugged from behind.

“Ooh, I’m hugging T-Bone! Luck, get a picture!”

The two giggled again as T-Bone tried to shrug her off. Finally managing to detach her from him, he made his excuses and left.

“I have to go over here now…” T-Bone said as he ran.

“Uh, me too! back later!” added Razor, following his friend.

“So, Razor, um, what was that about?”

“It looks like they’ve lost their memories too… so, I don’t think they know about us anymore.”

“They don’t know who we are?”

“Not our real identities. They know we’re the SWAT Kats, but you saw the way they reacted! Think about it. It's like they haven’t been living with us. It’s like they’ve never even met us.”

“Yes! Yes!!! We don’t have to worry about that anymore!”

“Exactly, but what about Callie…”

“What about me?” came a voice from behind the two.

“Um, well…” began T-Bone.

“Ok Callie,” said Razor, “We know you’re not stupid, so, err, we’ll be direct. Do you know who we are?”

Callie looked at them strangely for a moment, then replied, “You’re the SWAT Kats…you are the SWAT Kats, aren’t you?” she asked.

“Yes, but do you know who we are, you know, really?”

“Uh, noooo…”

The two toms looked at each other, and smiled.

Chapter Two:

“So, Jake, what happened to the Dark SWAT Kats, and their buddies?”

“Well,” Jake began, leaning on the counter top in their small, untidy kitchen, “The enforcers have released a statement saying they found the jets they were using. They were little more than debris when found, but, just by examining the bits that were left, they could tell the electronics had been fried.”

“How about the kats themselves?”

“Didn’t find any bodies.”

The two were silent for a moment. It was hard for either of them to contemplate their own deaths. Could it even be considered their own deaths, or the deaths of just another couple of villains? And then, there was the idea of whether or not they were really dead. If no bodies had been found, then perhaps they had ejected too. They might never know.

“Razor, any idea what made them invisible on radar?”

Razor looked up from studying the milk can he was holding. “No, actually. There wasn’t enough of the plane left to find that out.”

“Oh, well, what about Dark Kat? D’ya think he’ll come after us again?”

“No doubt.”

They fell silent again for a while.

“How do you think that bomb thing made people lose their memories like that, and for such a short period of time?”

Jake shrugged. “I told you it was untested and unpredictable. I guess it could have done anything.”

“Jake?”

“Yeah?”

“How much can you remember?”

“I don’t think I’ve forgotten anything. But, if I had, I wouldn’t know about it, I think…”

“I s’pose not.”

“I do remember one thing though. I owe some guy ten dollars, but I can’t remember who he was…”

“I wouldn’t worry. He’s probably forgotten about it too.”

“True. But, there’s another thing that’s bothering me.”

“What’s that?”

“Wasn’t Dark Kat supposed to be sending Luck to snoop around here while we were distracted? Won’t he be angry when he realises she didn’t?”

“Maybe he forgot about that…”

Chapter Three:

Dark Kat sat up. His position had been rather undignified on the floor of his lair, and he was eager to get upright again.

“What happened?” he growled. “Wasn’t I in the middle of my latest evil scheme? And, what is THAT!?” he hissed, pointing to the large swirling portal in the wall.

Chapter Four:

“Will Callie get another car?” asked Chance.

“I should think so. She’s deputy mayor; she needs one.”

“I guess so,” Chance replied. Then, he thought. “Um Jake?”

“Yeh?”

“Are we going to build a new Jet?”

Jake thought for a moment. “We’re going to have to. We have the components, so we CAN do it, so we WILL. But first, I feel like a well earned break. So, Chance, what do you feel like doing now?”

“Well, I’m not sure why I have this feeling, but I really want to do some cleaning…”
