This is my first try at fanfiction. I hope you like it. ~T.Tyger Tiger strike On the far outskirts of Megakat City, a red convertable headed toward a very familar salvage yard. The car stopped outside the garage and a kat in black sneakers stepped out. Inside the garage, Chance Furlong slumped lazily behind the desk he and Jake kept in a small, dusty office sorting through a large, messy pile of papers. He grumbled as he looked over the mess that lay before him. Jake was better at organizing stuff than he was. But he lost the coin toss. So while Jake worked on the latest car that needed repared, Chance got to sort through the papers that had been piling up on the old desk. Both mechanics were so engrossed in their work that they didn't even notice the she-kat as she stepped into the garage. Bright green eyes silently combed the room as she stood in the door way. She sauntered passed Jake unnoticed, his head buried under the hood of a car. She walked into the office Chance was in and quietly sat on the desk top. "Hey baby, going my way?" Chance heard a feminine vioce ask. He looked up in complete suprize into the green eyes of an orange furred she-kat with long, brown hair and dressed in a black jacket over a green tank top and black shorts. The she-kat smiled at Chance's baffled expresion. "Chance, don't you remember me?" Chance's blank look answered her question. "Chance, it's Tanya, Tanya Tiger." "Tanya?" Chance asked, a hint of recognition in his voice. Tanya smiled and nodded. Chance broke into a grin and dumped up from his desk. He ran around it and swept the orange kat up in a tight embrace. Tanya in turn hugged him around his neck and giggled. "It's so good to see you again." Tanya said happily. "You to." Chance confirmed as he let her go and looked her in the face. "How'd you find me?" "Well, it was no picnic believe me. You weren't listed in the phone book. And now I see why. Do you live here?" "Well. . . . " "Chance, who's this?" Chance looked to see Jake standing in the office doorway, wiping the grease off his paws with a dirty rag. "Jake, this is Tanya Tiger, an old friend of mine from high school. Tanya, this is my good friend and partner Jake Clawson." "Hi Jake." Tanya said as she stretched out her paw to him. "It's nice to know Chance at least has one friend." She smiled teasingly at Chance who lightheartedly chuckled. Jake extended his paw and shook Tanya's. He eyed the she-kat skeptically. Jake found it hard to picture Tanya and Chance hanging around together. Chance didn't seem to be the type to hang around with any kind of girl. Unless she was an old girlfriend. They made a very odd looking couple. Tanya was unusually small. Infact, she was about an inch shorter than he was. "I'm sorry you got kicked out of the Enforcers Chance." Tanya said. "I know it ment a lot to you." "Hey, how did you find that out?" Chance asked. "I went into Enforcer Headquarters looking for you and met up with a Lieutenant Felina Feral. She told me you got kicked out and where to find you. She also told me that if she were me she wouldn't go hanging around with the riff-raff'." "That sounds like Felina all right." Chance chukled. "None of the Ferals are real big fans of ours. It was Commander Feral, Felina's uncle who kicked us out." "Why?" Chance went on to tell the story of how he and Jake ended up managing a junk yard. "Wow, what a jerk." Tanya exclaimed after the story was over. "We should go toilet paper his house or stink bomb his basement." Chance laughed at the idea. "Tanya, you haven't changed a bit." he said. "In fact, I don't even think you grew any since I saw you last. You're still just as puny as ever." "Thanks a bunch." Tanya said sarcastically."And what about you? Seems you got larger." "Yea, I've been working out." Chance said proudly as he sucked in his stomach and flexed his muscles. Jake rolled his eyes. He'd got through this routine many times before when he and Chance were still in the Enforcers. But then he was shocked a Tanya's unexpected reaction. She erupted into laughter. "Yea right." Tanya jeered. "Look at all that padding. You look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. You and your abs of flab." she snickered as she punched Chance playfully in his rock hard stomach. "Hey!" Tanya cried, rubbing her fist. "Impressed now?" Chance smiled. Tanya didn't say anything but she looked more anoyed than impressed. She was about to say something when the sound of a car pulling up interupted her. The three kats heard the car door open and shut and then a female vioce. "Tanya Tiger, where the heck have you been?" the voice boomed. Tanya gasped. "Chance, what time is it?" "About 1:00. Why?" "Oh no." Tanya gulped. Just then a she-kat stomped into the garage. She had grey fur and short blond hair. She was wearing a buisness-like shirt and skirt outfit. Her green eyes flashed with anger as she zeroed in on Tanya. "Hey Rita, what's shaking?" Tanya asked nervously. "Your head when I get my paws around your neck!" The grey furred she-kat advanced but Chance and Jake stepped in frint of her. "Whoa, chill out." Chance said. The she-kat looked him in the eye and glared. She was a lot taller than Tanya or Jake. But she still wasn't as tall as Chance. "Look Rita, I'm sorry." Tanya said, still keeping her distance. "I lost track of time. It didn't seem that important to me." "Not important? NOT IMPORTANT!?" Rita steamed. "You were supposed to meet me at City Hall at noon. While you were out remenicing, you kept the Deputy Mayor waiting almost an hour." "Awe Rita," Tanya wined. "You know how I hate meetings. And besides, that Deputy Mayor is a twit." "Watch what you say," Rita warned. "Calley is a good friend of mine." "Yea, ours too." Chance said as he and Jake turned to glare at Tanya. "Oh man," Tanya groaned. "me and my big mouth." After that there was a moment of uncomfortable silence until Rita finally sighed. "Okay Tanya, as long as I'm here, introduce me to your friends." Tanya's face brightened. "Rita, this is my old good friend Chance Furlong and this is his newer good friend uh. . .um ..What was your name again?" Tanya whispered to Jake. "Jake Clawson." "Oh yea, Jake Clawson. Guys this is my friend Rita." "Hey." Rita said. "Sorry for the rough first impression." "No problem." Chance answered. "It was the most exitement we've had all week." Rita smiled at him. "So Rita," Tanya cut in. "shall we go now and ask her majesty for forgiveness and a new meeting date?" "Good idea, most sarcastic one." Before Tanya left, she pulled a pen out of her pocket and grabbed Chance's paw, turning it face up. "This is my number." Tanya said, scribling on Chance's paw. "Call me sometime and we'll catch up on old times." "We have paper to write on." Chance said as he looked at his ink covered paw. "I know. But think of all the great fun you'll have washing it off." And with that, the two she-kats got into their separate cars and took off. Chance and Jake stood in the doorway and watched the cars disappear from site. "So tell me about this Tanya you know so well." Jake said. "You've never mentioned her before." Chance sighed. It had been a long time since he had seen Tanya last. The time that they were friends seemed like a whole other lifetime. "When I was in high shool," Chance began. "before I met you, Tanya was my best friend. We did everything together. She helped me through some of the worst times of my life. I almost died the day she moved away." He paused to look at the number scribled on his paw. "I thought I'd never see her again." End of story But Jake knew there was more of this tale to tell. But form the look on Chance's face he surmized that he wouldn't be getting any more information today. So he let it go for now. The next day Chance decided to take Tanya up on her offer and called her number. The phone rang on the other end and he heard someone pick up the reciever. "Talk to me." a familar voice chirped. Chance smiled. Ever since he had known Tanya, she had always answered the phone that way. "Hey Tanya, it's Chance. Want to get together sometime?" "Love to. But I can't today. I'm real busy. But tomarrow around noon would be great." "Okay, where should we meet?" "My house." Tanya replied. "And bring your friend what's his face, too." "You mean Jake?" Chance asked. "Yea." Tanya then gave Chance her address and they said their good-byes. At the same time in another part of town, Deputy Mayor Calley Briggs stood patiently in line at the Megakat National Bank. She smiled to herself. Payday was always a happy day for Calley and she was more than ready to cash in her check. The from out of nowhere came rapid gun shots and Calley dove for the floor along with all the other kats in the building to escape the line of fire. She looked up cautiously in the direction the bullets were coming from. Two armed figures stood in the doorway. Calley knew them in an instant. It was the two gangster robots Mac and Molley Mange otherwise known as the Metalikats. "All right you suckers," Mac boomed. "you know the drill. So hand over the money and no one gets shot." Calley heard a click as one of the bank attendants pressed the silent alarm button. The Metalikats apparently didn't see the Deputy Mayor as they walked passed her and behind the counter, out of her view. Calley knew it would take a long time for the Enforcers to come to her aid for head quarters was on the other side of the city. So she quickly reached into her purse and took out a certain device that she always used under such surcomstances, a triangle shaped communicator. Chance was upstairs in the garage when the alarm went off. But Jake had been down in the hanger working on the jet. He answered Calley's distress call. "What's the problem Ms. Briggs?" Jake asked. "I'm at Megakat National Bank." Calley's voice crackled out of the speaker. "The Metalikats are robbing it. They haven't seen me yet. Please come as soon as possible." "Hang on Ms. Briggs, we're on our way." By then Chance was at his partner's side. "Come on buddy, we've got work to do." Calley had no sooner than returned her comunicator to her purse when she felt something grab the back of her suit and lift her into the air. "Look here Mac," Molly said evily. "I'm making a special withdraw from the bank." "Well well," Mac said, his arm full of money bags. "if it isn't the Deputy Mayor. We still owe you big time. Load her into the car Molly." Calley found herself tied up in the back seat of the Metalikat's obvious stollen vehicle as they raced off to some destination that might be her last. She hoped with all her heart that someone would find her in time. In a less life threatening part of the city, an old warehouse stood dark and quiet. Suddenly a shred of light burst into the dark, dusty building as two kats slid open the large warehouse door. Tanya flipped on the lights and Rita fallowed her inside. "Wow." Rita exclaimed, looking at all the boxes stacked in gigantic rows. "Your dad had a lot of junk." "Tell me about it." Tanya replied. "My dad hoarded everything my family ever owned in here." The two kats were so busy sorting through junk they didn't even hear the car as it stopped outside the door. "Hey Tanya," Rita called from across the room. "look what I found." Tanya walked over behind a stack of boxes where Rita was standing. She looked at Rita's find and gasped. Before them was a pile of jewels and money along with asorted weapons and amunition. "Look at all this neat stuff." Rita cried. "Man, was your dad a pack rat." "But Rita," Tanya said in a low voice. "this stuff isn't my dad's." "No?" "No!" said a deep metalic voice behind them. "It's mine!" Back at the bank, the Swat Kats had just arrived in the Turbokat. The Enforcers, along with Commander Feral were already at the scene. T-bone rushed through the door fallowed by Razor. "What happened?" T-bone urgently demanded. "Where's Calley?" "No thanks to you Swat Kats," Feral accused. "the Metalikats have taken her to who knows where and . . . " "Before Feral could finish, the Swat Kats were already out the door. In no time flat, they jumped in their jet and flew out of site. "We should have gotten there sooner." T-bone lamented. "Relax buddy," Razor reasured. "Calley's comunicator has a tracking device. We'll find her." Tanya and Rita found themselved tied up and being held as captives by two robots. The shorter robot tossed another tied up she-kat on the floor next to them. She had long blond hair and was wearing a pink suit. "Enjoy your stay while you can Deputy Mayor." Mac hissed. "You won't be here much longer." "Calley?" Rita asked after the robots left them to count their loot. "Who or what are they? And why are they after you?" "They're called the Metalikats." Calley explained. "They're mobster robots who usd to be kats. I've been on their hit list for a long time. They're still trying to get revenge on me because when they were still kats I denied their parole." Tanya's head shot up. "You denied their parole?!" she asked increduously. "Boy are you going to get it!" "Thanks for your concern." Calley remarked. "Any time, Blondie." Rita shifted uneasily between the bickering she-kats. "Tanya," she said in a soft voice. "I'm scared." "Well we won't be here for long." Tanya said as she began to work on the ropes that held her. "Don't worry." Calley reasured Rita. "My friends the Swat Kats will save us." Both she-kats looked up at her. "The who?" "She's in that warehouse." Razor said, pointing from the jet's cock pit. T-bone set the Turbokat down behind the warehouse where no one would see or hear them land. He slipped on his glovatrix. "Let's go." Meanwhile, Tanya was able to slip her wrists out of the ropes. Calley was impressed. The ropes that held her own wrists were tightly knotted and she could not see how anyone could get out of them. Tanya reached over quietly to untie Rita just as Molly turned to see the escaped captive. "Hey!" she cried, pointing her gun at Tanya's head. "What do you think you're doing?" Tanya looked up to see a gun aimed at her, ready to fire. She lunged quickly to the side, drawing the fire away from the two kats still tied up. She ran at top speed deeper into the warehouse. The two robots fallowed her, guns blazing. The Metalikats were out of site when T-bone and Razor ran through the door. "Swat Kats, over here." Calley called to them. They ran over to Calley to find out that she was not alone. "Are you two all right?" T-bone asked, kneeling to untie Calley's ropes. "We're fine." Calley answered. "But those two robots chased my friend Tanya down that way." Rita added, pointing in the direction the robots had gone. "I'll get her." Razor said as he raced off through the warehouse. Razor wandered carefully through the tall maze of boxes, his glovatrix ready. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a figure lunge out at him. He turned to face the figure but was knocked to the ground and held fast. Razor looked up into the eyes of an orange furred she-kat who was just as suprized as he was. "What?!" Tanya gasped at her unexpected catch. "You're no robot. Who are you?" She let the masked kat up. "My name is Razor. I'm here to help you." "So you're one of those Swat Kats Calley told me about." Tanya concluded. "Nice threads. I'm Tanya, Tanya Tiger." Suddenly an explosion of bullets fired in their direction from one of the Metalikats. Razor ducked, pulling Tanya to the ground with him and returned the fire with missiles from his glovatrix. Tanya looked up through the fire to see a large kat slam into the robot and knock it to the ground. Tanya got up to get a better look at the kat. He was basically dressed the same as Razor. But he was taller and more muscular than his partner. Then she looked over to where the robot had fallen. There was only one of them, Mac. "T-bone, where's Molly?" Razor asked the other Swat Kat. "I don't know, I didn't see her." T-bone answered. Tanya smiled. T-bone and Razor. This Megakat City had changed a lot since she was there last. A scream then interupted her thoughts. She and the two Swat Kats ran back up the way they cam towards the screaming. They found Calley in Molly's clutches. The robot pointed her gun at Calley's head when she saw the Swat Kats coming. "One more step and Megakat City will need a new Deputy Mayor." Molly warned. Razor looked the situation over. "We need a diversion." he whispered to T-bone. "Leave that to me." Tanya cut in. She was out of site before the Swat Kats knew what happened. "Mac, get over here." Molly called to her husband. "We've got what we want. Grab the loot and let's go." Mac grabbed a sack full of stolen goods and stumbled over to Molly, rubing his head. T-bone started to panic. Where was that diversion? Razor looed over at Rita who was keeping her distance from the robots. She kept staring up at the ceiling oddly. Razor fallowed her gaze. There was Tanya up on the rafters over the Metalikats. Razor nudged his partner. "Get ready buddy," he whispered. "here comes our diversion." "Razor, what are you talking . . . . " Tanya dropped from the rafters on top of Molly, causing her to loose her grip on her captive. Calley ran out of the robot's grasp and over to Rita. The Swat Kats fired at Mac, causing him to drop his bag. Molly turned on her attacker. Tanya was trying to regain her balance from her attack. Molly grabed her jacket and flung her at the Swat Kats. The three kats fell to the ground as they collided. Molly grabbed Mac's arm and pulled him out the door. "Come on you," Molly said. "we're out of here." She fired her gun one last time as the robots retreated out the door. Molly's lazer hit the ceiling above Rita and Calley. The she-kats gasped as they were buried in debris. Tanya and the Swat Kats ran to help their buried friends. They could hear the Metalikat's car drive off as they dug through the rubble. When they reached the kats, Tanya hugged her friend. "Rita!" she cried. "You're okay!" Rita looked over her dirty clothes and dusty fur. "As if." Rita replied angrily. "Look at me, I'm filthy." "Well at least you're alive." Tanya pointed out. "Well at least you're clean." Rita retorted. Tanya smiled and shook her head. She helped Rita out of the pile while T-bone helped Calley. "Come on Tanya." Rita grabbed her arm and pulled her to the door. "I need a hot bath, pronto." Tanya hesitantly fallowed. "Thanks for the help Swat Kats." she called over her shoulder. "Yea, thanks a whole bunch." Rita said sarcastically while trying her best to pick all the debris out of her hair. "Give it a rest Rita, they just saved your life." "Well then maybe they can pay for my dry cleaning bill." T-bone, Razor and Calley listened as the she-kats continued to argue about the recent events as they got in their car and drove off. The Enforcers arrived just as Tanya's car was out of site. Commander Feral stepped out of his car and over to where the three remaining kats stood. "Ms. Briggs, are you all right?" he asked. "Yes, thanks to the Swat Kats." Calley confirmed. "Eye witnesses say that there were two more she-kats involved." Feral stated. "What happened to them?" "They left." Razor said as he and T-bone headed for their jet. "We'll need to take statements from them." Feral said "Don't worry about that." T-bone said with a smile. "I've got a feeling we'll hear from those two again soon enough.
