Deargod@heaven.com I'm baaaaccckk!! And with another story too! My ideas keep flowing like rain, and I have to think for hours just to choose which ones to write! Here goes. TIME TRAVELER PART ONE: TRIAL AND ERROR Note: Words with "double inverted" commas instead of 'single inverted' ones mean the voice is inside Jake's head. 'He who controls the past, commands the future. He who commands the future, conquers the past'-Kane, Command and Conquer, Red Alert. T-bone felt the jolt of the missile making contact with the pavement and then a large explosive force ripping through him from behind. After that, he felt nothing. Sami heard a loud explosion and turned to see a mushroom cloud over the city. Then she saw something even more deadly. The shock wave. She felt it envelop her, then a sudden calm. Felina's chopper was hit by the EMP and started wobbling. She pulled hard on the stick but it would not respond. Grabbing her parachute, she jumped out, only to hit the sidewalk. The last thing she saw was the still spinning rotor blade of her helicopter headed straight for her. Kristina was watching TV in the salvage yard when she heard a deafening explosion. Looking out the window, all she saw was what looked like a dome of white light surrounding the city. It seemed to be headed for the salvage yard. She tried to run but she and the entire salvage yard was swallowed up in the shock wave. Razor woke up in a large chamber. It looked strangely familiar. Déjà vu hit him. 'Welcome aboard our ship.' Razor stood up and whirled around. 'Captain Grimalken!' The Aquian captain bowed, smiling. Razor was not happy in the least way. 'Excuse me for being rude, but I must return to my planet.' Grimalken's smile disappeared. He opened his mouth to speak, but said nothing. He gestured for Razor to follow him. When they reached the bridge, Captain Grimalken touched a few keys on the giant control panel in front of him. 'Initializing playback of Annihilator File.' Razor didn't like the name at all. Suddenly the screen was filled with Earth. And then there was a mushroom over where Megakat City was supposed to be. The shock wave pulsed around the entire planet, destroying everything in its path. Then it exited the atmosphere. Razor watched, dumbstruck as the shock wave devastated the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and caused the sun to go supernova in the process. The following explosion devastated the solar system, destroying everything, planets, asteroids, meteors, comets. All of it went up in smoke. 'Consequence of detonation analyzed. The Katialian Solar System has been erased from the universal map. The star, Sun 36458, and all it's nine planets, have been annihilated. Debris from blast shall be radioactive for the next two trillion years. Razor hadn't eaten, slept, talked or even drank for a week since he had watched the file. He refused all help, food and water. He just wanted to be left alone. Captain Grimalken was getting worried. Razor was getting thinner and thinner. He was afraid to sleep because of the nightmares that he knew would haunt him. His friend, his family, heck, his entire species was dead. He was the only one. The sole survivor of a kat species. A race that would die unless he did one thing. Go back and stop it. That however wasn't an option. He had no means of time travel. The Pastmaster, had he been in that particular time space, was long gone. 'Perhaps, I can help you.' The familiar voice of Captain Grimalken floated to him through the doorway. 'I don't see how.' 'We have a time travelling device on board. It allows anyone to travel through time.' 'Yeah, right.' 'You don't believe me.' 'Of course I don't. How did I survive that anyway?' 'My ship beamed you out just as you were sucked into the atmosphere. Your friend was travelling too fast for us to get a lock on him.' 'Then?' 'When the explosion hit, we pulled to hyperspace.' 'And where are we now?' 'Just outside the Pleadian star system.' Razor thought deeply for a while and considered what he had just heard. A time machine that could send him back to stop the complete and total destruction of the Katilian Solar System. He decided to buy it. 'Where is this time machine of yours?' After a shower and a meal, Razor followed the Aquian Captain to the main deck of the ship. As they walked, Razor and Grimalken discussed technologies, the time machine, and their plan. Razor was getting the gist of the situation. 'So this time machine can send me back to stop the missile from ever reaching my planet, but will bring me back to the ship after a set amount of time.' 'As I said it, word for word.' 'And what is the time limit?' Captain Grimalken thought for a while before answering. 'The last time we used it was a month ago, so..' He trailed off in thought. 'Well?' 'Five minutes.' Razor nearly choked. 'FIVE minutes?' 'I'm very sorry we didn't start charging the time machine earlier. Five minutes is all you have to stop the missile. Do you remember the abort code?' Razor stopped to try and recall. After the beep, he remembered a number. 2864, something something. He remembered that the transmission had taken four and a half minutes. He only had half a minute to enter the code. Thinking deeply, he tried to remember. What in the world were those two numbers? 2864. 2864. 2864. 2864 What? He closed his eyes and tried to visualize the two numbers. In his mind, he saw the first four numbers, 2-8-6-4. He put two empty spaces beside the number and concentrated on recalling those two numbers. Suddenly two blobs formed in the empty spaces. One took form of a seven. 28647! Now for that last one. Putting all of his soul, mind and body into revealing that last number, Razor was sweating profusely, his body trembled, but he still couldn't get it. "Four." A voice from inside his head popped the bubble. Opening his eyes, he looked back at a very confused Captain Grimalken. "I said, it's four." 'Are'al?' "Ariel actually." 'Where are you? How can I hear you?' Sensing a personal issue, the aquian decided that now was the time to leave. "Telepathic link." 'How come?' "Dragons never die. At least not mentally." 'Where are you?' "Where you cannot reach me except through this link." 'I want to be with you, Ariel.' "I will come back to you once you destroy the missile. Send it off to co-ordinates 647, 391. It will go into a black hole and cause no more trouble." 'But Ariel,..' "I must leave now, father. Farewell and good luck." Razor snapped out of the trance. 286474. He got it. Getting up, he headed for the main deck. Razor stood inside a large hollow chamber. There was only one window, and Captain Grimalken was standing there. He heard a loud noise, just as he saw Captain Grimalken mouth the words 'Good luck' Then there was a blinding flash of light, and Razor, holding a laptop and modem, and dressed in a heat suit, disappeared. Razor re-appeared on the missile. Quickly locking on his magnetic boots, he set the laptop down on the missile and entered the code. 286474. He smiled as the words 'Code accepted' appeared on screen. Suddenly from somewhere above him he a shout. 'T-bone, I've found the code. I'm changing the missile's target.' 'Oh no you don't' thought Razor. He quickly punched in the co-ordinates Ariel had given him and pressed 'transmit'. A while later, the missile's NAV computer received the transmission. Looking at his watch, Razor discovered that it hadn't even passed two minutes yet, thanks to Captain Grimalken's superior modem. He heard himself say forty-nine percent on the other side of the missile. Suddenly, the missile did a complete turnaround, causing his alternate self to be flung into outer space. Firing his grappling hook at his other self, Razor silently thanked Captain Grimalken for these super-strong magnetic boots. He tried to reel himself in but the inertia had been too strong. 'Can't let me die...' Razor struggled with the cable. He remembered seeing a movie where the star's past self died and the star died too. With no past, there was no future. Suddenly he knew what to do. Releasing the boots, he fired his jetpack, flinging his other self back towards the Turbokat. Unfortunately, doing so meant he had to head straight for the atmosphere of his home planet. As he burned, Razor thought it dreadfully ironic that he had saved his world but not himself. There was a loud beep as everything went black for the second time. Captain Grimalken heard the machine hum as it prepared to bring Razor back from his mission. There was a loud beep as the words 'Unable to find target' appeared on the screen. The Aquian bowed his head. Razor watched the missile fly out into outer space. He looked at the burning body hurtling through the atmosphere and sighed. That kat had given his life to save him. That was a debt he couldn't pay. 'Razor, are you alright buddy?' 'Yeah I'm fine T-bone.' 'I saw the guy over there and I thought..' Razor cut him off. 'It wasn't me. But whoever it was, I owe him big time.' In the hangar, Razor replaced his helmet and jumpsuit into his locker. He sighed. Some kat had saved him and he got fried to a crisp for a reward. The way he fired the grappling hook, the way he activated his jetpack, it was all very familiar. Jake shrugged and returned to the garage. Before he could finish climbing the access ladder, he heard a voice. "Hi." Jake looked behind him but saw no one. "Well, aren't you gonna answer me?" As he reached for his right sleeve, the voice spoke again. "No need for the knife, I can't hurt you." 'How do you know I have a knife in here?' Jake was surprised. "I know much more than that. You are married to Sami Higgins, now Clawson. You have one kitten, Ariel Kranen Clawson. She was a dragon, but then, you killed her." Jake listened to the voice rattle off his life events for the last few months. He was beginning to become very frightened. 'Who are you? What do you want?' "I don't want anything. As for who I am..." The voice paused as if contemplating something. "Go look in the mirror." Jake walked over to a mirror in the hangar and looked into it. He saw nothing but his own reflection. "Who do you see?" 'Me, of course.' Jake heard applause. "Congratulations Jake Clawson. You have just figured out who I am." 'You are me?' "A form of you, yes." 'I don't believe you.' "Really? Then tell me, who was the kat that saved you just now on the missile? If it wasn't for me, you'd be somewhere near the moon by now." 'You're a ghost?' "Somewhat." PART TWO: REVELATIONS 'The distance between insanity and genius can only be measured by success.'-Elliot Carver, 007, Tomorrow Never Dies. The next few hours were spent by Jake telling Jake about how to use the telepathic link and explaining the pros and cons of using the link. He had come to the point of the actual practice. "Okay, now YOU shall connect to a suitable test subject. Say, Ariel." Jake was surprised. 'Ariel is telepathic?' "All dragons are." 'Wow.' Getting up from the floor, Jake climbed the ladder and walked to Sami's room. Looking down at Ariel, he concentrated on making the connection. Finding the way to her mind, he heard a hollow sound, kind of like when you hold a cup to your ear. Ariel must have heard it too, because she immediately woke up. "Who is it?" 'It's me, Ariel. It's me, Ja'c.' Ariel laughed. "Come on Father, I know your name." 'Alright, now as I was..' The klaxon rang through the entire house. Breaking the connection, Jake rushed to the phone. Razor fired a couple more slugs into the rebel frontline, while T-bone evaded the crossfire from both sides. The sheer number of rebels, and their technology over whelmed the Enforcers. This was mainly due to the fact that they had goods shipped in from overseas. Non-lethal weapons were not an option, so Feral had his Enforcers use live ammunition. The rebels had one big advantage, they were fighting in a highly populated area of Megakat City, meaning Feral could not use high explosives in fear of harming innocent civilians. The Swatkats had foam-bombs, but they only blinded the rebels temporarily. Feral could only prevent them from taking more of the city, but the rebels were closing in a tight circle. The Enforcers were driven back to the point that almost eighty percent of Megakat City was rebel-controlled. Feral was furious about this. That a bunch of vigilantes had overpowered the Enforcers, well, it was infuriating if you look at it from Feral's point of view. Pushing a button on the intercom he spoke, 'Janine, get me General Fiest.' 'Yes Commander.' General Fiest received Feral's call for assistance and willingly accepted. He had served in Operation Desert Storm, Vietnam, and Megawar 2, and had risen through rank quickly. Now he was a four-star general in the Army. How could he refuse a chance to take down some rebels? The Army arrived just as Feral expected them. General Feist's plan went like this, Th Rebels were slowly closing in on Enforcer Headquarters. The army would take them from behind, destroying their forces from both sides. It worked magnificently. The rebels never knew what hit them, and within two days, more than half the city had been re-taken. Shykes was terrified at the progress that the Army was making and decided to surrender. One thousand rebels were taken prisoner, while Shykes was given the electric chair. All in all, the rebels were overtaken. Jake realized that the Swatkats could finally settle down and relax for a while, since the rebels had been defeated. One question still lingered in his mind. Who fired the missile? If the rebels denied all usage of the missile silo, and dead rebels had been found at the silo, who launched the missile? And why? EPILOGUE Jake sat on the couch, watching an ad for Selinda, supposedly the most beautiful city in the country. They weren't kidding. Jake was born there, he knew. 'Come to Selinda, The City of A Thousand Dreams.' Jake switched off the TV and leaned back, thinking about.. Before he could find a topic to think about, he felt a sharp pain in his head. Sitting up, he looked around but saw nothing. He felt it again, only more painful. It continued, becoming more and more painful, until he blacked out upon the floor. Jake found himself in his own room. Looking at the clock, he found that it was early in the morning. Getting up, he decided to get some work done on the cars. As he showered, he felt the pain again. This time, it hurt bad. Screaming, he fell to the floor, the pain in his head throbbing hard. The End. Have you ever been alone? Scary? Well, nothing you feel can be compared to
